Breitbart’s rant at CPAC 2010 has now been displayed everywhere, with clips taken that suits the purpose of whoever wants to spend time cutting them and pasting them together.
The left puts their spin on them, as usual, as can be seen in most of their edited versions. They care only about whatever trouble O’Keefe may or may not be in for making the undercover videos, and how the tapes were made, but care nothing about what the videos actually show; the systemic corruption that is endemic at the Acorn organization. Maybe that’s overly harsh? Maybe there are some who really try to good there. It’d be nice to actually see that, but even the Acorn 8 turn out to possibly have less than honorable motives.
What had Breitbart incensed was Max Blumenthal’s calling O’Keefe a racist, and Breitbart one as well by association. And there ol’ Max was, right in front of AB. Perfect timing.
This last weekend at CPAC, as many of you have no doubt heard, there was a verbal smackdown extraordinaire put on by Andrew Breitbart. This smackdown was administered to not one, not two, but three left wing media hacks.
Max Blumenthal, as Erick put it here, is a lying hack. I really have nothing to add to what Erick or Breitbart had to say on Max.
For Tommy, let’s just say he is fun to have a beer with … and laugh and laugh and laugh at.
Now on to the real villain of our story today. Daryle Lamont Jenkins. You see, Andrew wasn’t the only one who got into it with Jenkins. During the Breitbart smackdown, I was standing directly behind Jenkins. You can see me in the videos, I am the guy in the orange sweater and blue hat.
Anyhow, after the smackdown Jenkins didn’t leave the venue. He had gone off to the side of the pavilion and was now talking to a friend of mine. I politely walked over and eventually engaged. Before we go to the tape, a little background.
First, I had no idea who this Jenkins guy was beyond being a lefty blogger. My intent in engaging him was for him to admit that he was there for the purpose of calling Breitbart a racist. Little did I know that this is what this guy does. Jenkins has been running a smear shop under the guise of being some sort of adjudicator of what is and is not racist. He has an entire “Rogue’s Gallery” of those he has branded racists. In Philly, Jenkins even implied that Joey Vento was some sort of racist for wanting to make english mandatory in his own business [h/t skye820].
You can see the despicable techniques used by One People’s Project to gather “content” for their “Rogue’s Gallery” as documented on Flopping Aces, again, by Skye.
Here is one part that definitely stuck out…
Current and past personal data including date and place of birth, home and business addresses and phone numbers, Social Security numbers, automobile plate numbers, names and birth dates of spouse(s), children and friends. Again, certain information, such as Social Security numbers, while extremely helpful, will not be published.
Criminal records, including driving record, mug shots, and fingerprint card.
Civil suit record, including informative depositions and divorce file (if any).
Any upcoming court appearances.
I thought about emphasizing the important parts in that, but then realized it would lose the intended effect.
Now, on to the tape!
Several other Redstate contributors have spoken about CPAC and what an experience it was all told. I shall be adding to that number with a few observations of my own. I am a veteran of conservative conferences in various parts of the world ranging from the UK to Estonia. I have to admit that I would not have imagined CPAC, which I attended first in the 90s which I found rather dour, could top them all. I was refreshingly proven wrong.
What people found who attended was a revitalised and rejuvenated conservative movement that for the most part has welcome the influx of tea party energy. People were smiling and having a good time while discussing how to deal with the challenges that face us all. Instead of moaning and groaning about everything they were able to focus on what matters. Social conservatives, libertarians, fiscal conservatives and other types chatted about what to do about our socialist governance.
There were some bears at the picnic in the form of knuckle-dragging types who wanted to limit the conservative movement to a few select people like them. There were also Paul cultists who were loud but not as many in number as they might claim. The two groups gathered together in corners to discus their pet hates like homosexuals or Israel/neo-Cons/Jews. While it was obvious they were there, their attitudes did not distract from the main task at hand. The reaction of the main hall to various pronouncements about these groups, booing, made it very clear how most who attended felt.
Almost everyone realised that getting it right in the primaries upcoming and in November was far more important than worrying about a straw poll of preening presidential hopefuls. While people had their favorites, it was obvious they knew that 2012 was not the issue right now.
I would be amiss if I did not thank Redstate for the wonderful blogger lounge which housed many of my blogging colleagues both old and new. The levity of almost all participants made the task of writing about the event all the more easier. I would like to thank all those bloggers, video-diarists and radio hosts who interviewed me and allowed me to speak of my new book And Glory (along with tea party issues and conservatism in general). It was very pleasing that all of the Bank of Kev panels, three of which I was on, were so well attended.
I am already looking forward to next year’s CPAC which will be no doubt bigger and better. Take inspiration not from the gay-bashers or curmudgeons, but from Andrew Breitbart in his call to arms.
As much as the Democrats/liberals/progressives/greens/socialists/communists (calling them what they are makes them mad) would love to drive a wedge between the Republican Party and its patriot components, the newly activated grass roots Independents and ‘Tea Baggers’, it looks like they will be disappointed again.
As usual, the statists took exactly the wrong message from the Tea Party Convention. What they reported on was Sarah Palin’s crib notes, ignoring the fact that she delivered a near flawless address of 40 minutes to universal acclaim, both at the convention and across the nation, with six words scribbled on her hand, while Barack Obama can’t speak to sixth grade students without his teleprompters and has trouble delivering two cogent sentences extemporaneously. Further, they isolated the presentation of featured speakers to make the messages appear as divisive as theirs is. What they missed in their eagerness to trash people like Sarah Palin, Tom Tancredo, Andrew Breitbart and others, was the UNANIMITY of purpose and the consistency of the message.
Unlike the mental and philosophical lockstep demanded by liberal dogma, Conservatives can and do disagree… sometimes vociferously. But they have one thing in common that the statist lacks and furthermore, cannot comprehend. It’s the PRINCIPLE of Patriotism, a deep and abiding love of the country and the freedoms that have been gained and maintained for us at so great a cost. It’s a love for the wisdom of the founders and those most miraculous of all documents, inspired by God and given to the hand of these wise and Godly men. Our Constitution, our Declaration of Independence and our Bill of Rights.
That’s what has been re-awakened across these fifty United States. It’s why the statist/liberal/Marxist ideology will fail. It’s why we will sweep the Democrats from power in November and why Barack Obama will be a one-term President, remembered only as an unpleasant blot on history.
To the chagrin of the left there will be no third party. There will be one party, one people united in purpose and in our love for this GREATEST country on Earth.
God Bless America.
